In one sentence
Your array is the whole group of panels. Its size is the panels' watts added up.
| Panels | Each | Array size |
|---|---|---|
| 4 | 200 W | 800 W (0.8 kW) |
| 10 | 410 W | 4,100 W (4.1 kW) |
| 21 | 410 W | 8,610 W (8.6 kW) |
How big should yours be?
Take what you use in a day, divide by your darkest-month sun hours, then divide by 0.77 for losses. A tiny house using 7 kWh a day in Missouri (3.2 hours in December) needs about a 2.8 kW array, plus a little margin.
Or skip the math: the sizing calculator does it, and every guide does it for your situation.
Where it goes
- Ground mount: easiest to install, clean and angle. Great for homes and cabins.
- Roof: saves yard space; needs a sound roof.
- Vehicle roof: space is the limit. See panels for vans and RVs.
